Severe Weather Developing Across Parts of Wisconsin, Additional Severe Storms Expected Overnight

Severe Thunderstorm Watches Have Been Issued for Southeast Minnesota & Central Wisconsin

Good afternoon everyone. Severe thunderstorm development has begin and has also intesified quickly as stated in this morning's article. The storms in question are currently located just northeast of the Rochester area of Minnesota, and expected to cross over into central Wisconsin over the next hour or so.

These storms have a history of winds in excess of 55mph, very large hail, frequent lightning, and torrential rain. Further north, we have the rest of the line moving to the east southeast. For this reason, the National Weather Service has issued Severe Thunderstorm Watches stretching all the way to Green Bay until 10pm CDT. While a tornado watch is not in effect, we cannot rule out isolated tornadic activity.

We'll be watching closely to see iff these storms survive the trip into Illinois and Michigan, but we are not done here in terms of severe weathe risk. More energy is expected to come down from Canada and into North Dakota/Minnesota overnight. This line will row through parts of North Dakota, Minnesota, Wisconsin, Iowa, and possibly surviving into Illinois and Michigan. We could also see it nip parts of extreme eastern Nebraska.

You can expect severe thunderstorm watches and possible tornado watches, to be issued and expanded/moved as these storms develop and move onto their next target. Stay tuned for the latest watches and warning with your local agencies.
