Good evening everyone. Unfortunately the derecho-type system that concerned us this morning as far as possibilities, has formed and is now on the move towards Chicago, and the rest of Illinios & Indiana.

A powerful line of severe thunderstorms has formed out of scattered storms earlier, and is on the move to the east/sotheast at 60mph. So far we have seen damaging winds nearing 100mph, widespread tornado warnings, very large hail, frequest lightning, and torrential rain.

For this reason, we have both severe thunderstorm watches and tornado watches in the affected areas. Take shelter immediately if you are in the path of these storms.

Derechos are not only fast moving and powerful, but they are also long lasting. This will unfortunetly take us into the late night and early AM hours before it fizzles out.
