Good afternoon everyone. As expected, this morning's showers and storms fizzled out and/or weakened, but enough leftover energy was there to pop off a new severe weather risk.

While we spoke about South Dakota, Nebraska, Kansas, Oklahoma, and Texas in this morning's forecast, this afternoon we add Colorado to the mix as scattered severe weather has erupted east of the mountains. Some storms in the area have had a history of 60mph winds and quarter size hail.

For this reason, the National Weather Service has issued a Severe Thunderstorm Watch across parts of eastenrmost Colorado, northwest/north-central Kansas, and the Nebraska/Kansas border on the Nebraska side intil 10pm CDT. Storms will be capable of damaging winds, large hail, torrential rain, frequent lightning, and isolated tornadoes.

We also expect this watch area to expand and move as needed, with scattered severe weather still possible in South Dakota, and our current storms possibly surviving the trip to parts of Oklahoma & northern Texas.

Stay tuned to your locla agencies for the latest watches and warnings.
