Good late morning everyone. Tropical Storm Debby continues to have its eyes on the Northeast eventually as a front draped down prevents it from leaving, with the help of high pressure off to the east.

This will steer Debby up the Appalachians and directly into interior parts of the Northeast and New England; bringing with it, torrential rains, flooding conditions, and the prospect of some severe weather. Severe weather risks, especially on the tail end through central/eastern Pennsylvania, New Jersey, and New York, will be large hail, damaging winds, and brief tornadoes.

Meanwhile, Tropical Storm Debby remains offshore between Charleston & Myrtle Beach and moving at a snails-pace of 5mph to the northeast. Winds have crept back up to 60mph and that giant "donut hole" is closing up, which is a sure sign of some deepening.

In fact, there's a slight chance Debby regains minimal hurricane status just before making landfall. It's going to be a close call on that one, but it's really just semantics at this point anyway since the stage is already set for a minor to moderate storm surge, minor wind damage, and flooding rain.

Here is your local NYC Metro forecast -

Look for more clouds today, with on and off brief heavy showers & thundershowers. Highs today will be a muggy low 70's. On and off heavy showers and storms will grow more numerous tomorrow with muggy mid 70's.

Friday into early Saturday AM will be the bulk of the action, with numerous heavy showers and storms. Again, some of that action could reach severe limits. Highs Friday will be 75-80 and very muggy.

Look for departing rain and decreasing clouds on Saturday with a pleasant and breezy afternoon. Highs in the 80-85 realm. We'll have sunshine, lower humidity, and pleasant conditions on Sunday with more 80-85 temps.
