Good evening everyone. We're begining to see the genesis of what is going to be a rough evening and night for eastern Colorado, western/central Nebraska, and western/central Kansas as very strong to severe storms develop and drift east/northeast.

As of now, storms are contained in central and eastern Colorado, but the eastern edge specifically, causes a concern for Nebraska and Kansas. Storms have already have a history of penny size hail, damaging winds, frequent cloud-to-ground lightning, and torrential rains. We have even seen severe thunderstorm warnings issued in the past 30 minutes or so east of Denver and near the Colorado/Kansas border.

Look for storms to continue to organize and intensify as the evening wears on. Severe weather should be entering Kansas over the next 1-2 hours, and Nebraska over the next 1-3 hours. Storms should remain as clusters or individual cells as opposed to large-scale organized lines.

Thunderstorms that do reach severe limits will be capable of very large hail, damaging winds, frequent lightning, torrential rain, and the possibility for isolated tornadoes. For this reason, the National Weather Service has issued a Severe Thunderstorm Watch for parts of eastern Colorado and western Kansas until 11pm MDT/10pm CDT.
