Good early morning everyone. We have another perfect late August day in the Northeast under clear skies and comfortably warm conditions, but things are about to change. After a fairly decent block of comfortable weather, heat begins to build tomorrow and lasts through Wednesday before our next cold front sweeps through. This looks to be the pattern over the next few weeks as the gears of fall begin to turn.

Meanwhile in Florida, we're still dealing with old fronts and tropical moisture streaming northward from Cuba and westward from the Bahamas. As of this moment, things are fairly innocuous with only a few areas of heavy showers near the southern tip of Florida and the Keys; but as the sunshine works the atmosphere, heavy showers and storms will become more numerous.

Look for more of the same compared to yesterday, with heavy tropical monsoon-like showers and storms, some of which may be strong to severe. As far as the severe aspect, the biggest risk will be damaging winds, flooding rains, and an increased risk of waterspouts along coastal sections of the state. This will continue to play over the next several days as tropical energy lingers with the help of our stationary front.

We're also watching the possibility of a new flare-up of severe weather in the Rockies and mountainous areas out west in places such as Utah and Colorado; as well as a new severe weather risk that'll bring a need for attention across parts of North Dakota, South Dakota, and Minnesota tomorrow afternoon into the overnight hours on Monday.

In the Dakotas and Minnesota, we'll see the possibility late tomorrow for very large hail, damaging winds, frequent lightning, and a few strong tornadoes.

Here is your local NYC Metro forecast -

Look for full sunshine today and warm conditions. You might notice a slight uptick in humidity, but nothing outrageous yet. Highs today in the mid 80's. Heat builds tomorrow under full sunshine and increased humidity with highs in the upper 80's to near 90.

That humidity continues to build and very warm to hot temps remain into mid-workweek. We'll have the chance of a few thunderstorms on Monday with highs a humid upper 80's. We dry out a bit on Tuesday, but upper 80's remain.

We'll have an opportunity for low 90's on Wednesday, then maybe some late PM storms as a cold front heads down from the north/northwest. Thursday looks much better with low to mid 80's and a steady breeze.
