Good morning everyone. The Northeast is sitting pretty with cobalt blue skies in many parts of the region and a little fall bite to the air this morning. Beautiful conditions with sunny skies and mild to comfortably warm temps continue through Friday, then we'll be watching our next front.

This one will dig down deep into the South and draw up all of that tropical moisture up the coast in the form of some soaking rain and rumbles. Confidence is low on the exact timing at this point, but we are thinking some time late Saturday into early Sunday; then we clear out and go mild with low humidity again.

That tropical moisture we're talking about continues to give Texas some much needed rain, and Florida some not-so-much-needed rain. We also continue to have the risk of isolated severe weather, especially along coastal sections of Texas and Florida.

The reason why the two states are being mentioned in the same sentence, is because it's all related in terms of a long fetch of tropical moisture ranging from the Bahamas to New Mexico. Look for the continuation of heavy showers and thunderstorms, as well as isolated severe weather containing torrential rain, frequent lightning, damaging winds, hail, and possible waterspouts.

Lingering tropical energy may pose a problem over the next couple of weeks in the Gulf of Mexico. As stated in some of our previous articles, stalled out fronts and lingering tropical moisture don't bode well this time of year. These are the types of scenarios we look for during Sept/Oct for tropical development; so don't surprised if a tropical depression, tropical storm, or worse, winds up forming in the Gulf of Mexico some time between mid to late month this month.

We'll keep an eye on it all. Here is your local NYC Metro forecast -

Sunshine continues today, but we are slightly cooler than previously forecasted. Temps dipped into the 50's all the way down to the coast and will have a harder time recovering today. That being said, we're still very nice in the mid 70's with low humidity.

Low humidity and mid to upper 70's continue tomorrow, then we go slightly more humid on Thursday with near 80 temps. Friday pretty much looks the same, with maybe some increasing clouds late.

Clouds will lower and thicken on Saturday with the chance of some on and off rain and rumbles, then possibly some steadier rain overnight. Highs in the mid to upper 70's and muggy. Look for AM clouds and showers on Sunday, then partial clearing and highs in the mid 70's.
