Good morning everyone. Last night was a rough one in regards to severe weather impacting parts of Texas and New Mexico, as well as heavy showers & thunderstorms stretching across a wide area of the Midwest. This morning's action are the remnants of last night's widespread thunderstorms, and although we don't have any severe thunderstorm watches at this time, we are not done yet.

Heavy showers & thunderstorms are currently moving over parts of Colorado, Kansas, Oklahoma, Missouri, Iowa, Illinois, and Wisconsin, as a wide-ranging storm system exits the Rcokies and into the plains. Due to low pressure hanging back over Colorado, we are expecting some new strong to severe thunderstorms to develop in north/central Texas this afternoon and evening.

We will also see that action redevelop across parts of Oklahoma, Kansas, Missouri, and possibly into Arkansas later tonight. Meanwhile, our current wave of energy will continue to slide to the east and into Illinois, Indiana, and possibly Ohio.

All in all, I think today will be very much like yesterday in the areas impacted. Yesterday, we only officially saw severe thunderstorm watches in New Mexico and Texas, yet, severe weather dotted areas in Kansas and Oklahoma. Look for more of that today, with embedded severe weather within our clusters scattered about the Midwest, Mississippi Valley, and Ohio River Valley.

Thunderstorms throughout the region will be capable of locally damaging winds, large hail, frequent lightning, torrential rain, and the risk of a few tornadoes.
