Good afternoon everyone. We are watching some fairly hefty rain moving across the Central States as a wave of low pressure comes out of the Mississippi Valley.

A daisy-chain frontal system stretching from around western New York, all the way down into Texas, is bringing a variety of weather with it across a wide area of real estate. Our focus this afternoon are parts of Missouri, Illinois, Indiana, and the Ohio area. As of now, Ohio is quiet, but that may change over the next several hours.

In areas of northern Kentucky and eastern Tennesse, we are seeing popcorn-like showers and storms developing across the area. These could be capable of brief local downpours, small hail, gusty winds, and cloud-to-ground lightning.

Heavy showers and thunderstorms are developing over the region and in an area that is in need of some good soaking rains. They're certainly getting what they need, but over the next several hours, it may become too much and we could see some flooding in poor drainnage areas.

We also have a severe weather component to this later on in the afternoon and evening. The radar is already lighting up with some heavy rumbles and rain, but we could see some local instances of damaging winds, hail, and frequent lightning.
