Good late morning everyone. Clouds have returned to the Northeast and are here to stay until late Thursday as our slow moving front finally makes it across the area. The best chance to see some steady soaking rains will be in western/central Pennsylvania and New York, with only a slight chance of a few showers in the NYC Metro Area. Other than that, pleasantly mild weather with sunshine returns Friday onward and to start October.

That cold front slowly dragging through will give parts of Virginia, North Carolina, Kentucky, Tennessee, Alabama, Mississippi, and Louisiana the chance for another round of some heavy showers & thunderstorms this afternoon and evening. Some of these storms could become locally severe, with damaging winds, large hail, frequent lightning, torrential rain, and the risk of an isolated tornado.

Unfortunately that front will stall across the Appalachians and down to the Gulf of Mexico as tropical energy prevents it from moving completely through. As that front collides into warm tropical air, the contrast of cooler and less humid air behind it will help set off another round of heavy showers and storms across parts of Georgia, Alabama, and Tennessee tomorrow evening/night. This time around, the chance for severe weather will be enhanced due to the help of the tropics.

Here is your local NYC Metro Area forecast -

Clouds are here to stay with a few blue breaks possible. We'll be on the cool side thanks to the prolonged maritime influence, with highs in the upper 60's at best.

We could see a few showers tomorrow under mostly cloudy skies and more upper 60's; then a little milder and more humid on Thursday with a few more showers and mid 70's for highs.

Sunshine returns on Friday with high pressure in control. We'll have highs in the mid to upper 70's, with nothing to worry about as far as any tropical action. Our weekend continues to look mostly sunny & dry, with low to mid 70's for highs.
