Good afternoon everyone. As forecasted, we're watching a new batch of tropical energy coming into southwest Florida in the form of strong to severe thunderstorms; all of which are not connected to the approaching storm expected tomorrow & Thursday.

These thunderstorms have a history of strong winds over the ocean, torrential rain, frequent lightning, hail, and the risk of waterspouts. We have also seen radar-indicated rotation as these heavy showers and thunderstorms begin to come ashore. For this reason, the National Weather Service has issued a Tornado Warning until 1:30pm in areas near or just to the northwest of Everglades City.

Expect this trend of strong to severe thunderstorms to continue throughout the day, then begin to become more numerous and intensify tomorrow and thursday. For today, look for locally damaging winds, hail, frequent lightning, torrential rain, and the risk for both waterspouts & tornadoes.
