Good morning everyone. Ahead of our powerful tropical system and away from its core, we have a severe weather component that could be just as damaging as the storm itself.

We're watching heavy tropical showers and thunderstorms blossom to the east of all of the "typical" action we would see with a system like this; and that'll prove to be very problematic for areas of south Florida as the day wears on and we get into nighttime. Inidivdual severe thunderstorms cells across interior sections of Florida have begin to show signs of radar-indicated rotation, as well as some possible tornadoes touching down across the Everglades region.

For this reason, the National Weather Service has issued a Tornado Watch until 9pm ET across the entire region of south Florida. This includes cities such as Miami, West Palm Beach, Delray Beach, Port St. Lucie, Key West, and Naples & Cape Coral on the west coast. We are expecting this watch to be extended in time and scope as tropical energy increases throughout the day and night.

Look for the risk of dmaging winds, large hail, frequent lightning, torrential rain, and the possibility of widespread brief tornadoes. These types of tornadoes touch down very quickly and with very little warning, so keep an eye to the sky and promptly listen to local alerts when or if they occur.
