Good afternoon everyone. We continue to watch a strong low pressure system meander in the Southwest; bringing heavy snows in some of the high elevation areas in the Rockies, and strong to severe weather in the lower elevations.

Across central and eastern New Mexico, heavy thunderstorms have fired up, some of which required severe thunderstorm warnings not to long ago. We expect this trend to continue throughout the rest of the day, with locally strong to severe weather possible; even with the absence of official severe thunderstorm watches.

Some storms already have and may contain large hail, damaging winds, frequent lightning, and torrential rain. We could also see some scattered heavy showers & thunderstorms across extreme western parts of Texas.

Low pressure will try to move east, but low pressure will block and degrade it before it can cause any big problems in the Midwest. However, we could see some scattered strong storms stray into western Kansas and Oklahoma over the next 48hrs before all is said and done.
