Good morning everyone. Cooler air remains locked in the Northeast today, but more seasonable temperatures are on the way before we go very mild to warm Wednesday and Thursday. During this transition, we could see a round of heavy showers and/or thunderstorms across western and upper parts of New York tomorrow. However, our first chance of some rain along the coast in a while will be on Friday, then we unfortunately dry out again.

The warm front that'll bring the chance of some heavy showers or storms into New York, will be the culprit for the chance of some hefty thunderstorms across parts of Michigan overnight tonight first. Warm front heavy showers and thunderstorms tend to have an ability to form overnight, so we don't need the heating of the day to get some action going.

Gale warnings are in effect across parts of the Great Lakes in regards to this front, and we could see some locally strong winds with these clusters of thunderstorms. Look for the risk of some damaging winds, small hail, frequent lightning, and torrential rain later tonight into early tomorrow morning from the Indiana & Ohio border of Michigan, northward. The best chance to see some action will be in central parts of the state.

Elsewhere, we'll have some tropical showers and rumbles try and make their way back towards the Southeast coastline tomorrow. Coastal areas of Georgia, South Carolina, and North Carolina, could see some widely scattered gusty showers and thunderstorms over the next couple of days as high pressure creates an onshore flow. We could also see some enhanced tides and minor coastal flooding due to those winds pushing the water into the back bays and inlets.

Here is your local NYC Metro forecast -

Look for a mix of sun & clouds today and remaining somewhat cool. We'll have highs in the upper 50's to low 60's, then mid to upper 60's tomorrow as that milder air begins to arrive.

Wednesday is looking very mild for this time of year, with mid to upper 70's and sunshine. Thursday is a winner for outdoor activities, with upper 70's to possibly 80 degrees. Best chance to see 80 will be downtown Brooklyn, upper Queens, and just to our west in Newark and Jersey City.

Clouds roll in on Friday with the chance of a few showers or rumbles. Highs near 70, then another cool-down for the weekend.
