35 charged with homicide or murder released on bail as low as $0 in Anchorage
ANCHORAGE, Alaska (KTUU) - There are 35 people who have been released on bail in Anchorage who have been charged or indicted for homicide or murder. Crimes range from a man accused of shooting a young woman in the back of the head at near point-blank range, to first and second-degree murders, vehicular homicide, intentional manslaughter and a variety of shootings.

An Anchorage secondhand store is closing to the public to serve foster families
A statewide nonprofit announced this month that its Anchorage boutique will close to the general public in August. Beacon Hill provides support and resources for youth and families who are at risk of entering foster care, or are already in the system. The group’s store, called Beacon Hill Bargain Boutique, sells secondhand clothes, furniture and toys for low prices.
Juneau police release names of officers involved in downtown shooting
The Juneau Police Department has released the names of four officers involved in last week’s deadly shooting downtown. A standoff between law enforcement and Steven Kissack, an unhoused man, on Front Street on July 15 ended when Kissack made a sudden movement and officers shot him. Police say he was lunging at an officer while holding a knife.
Soldier, 29, dies after suspected drunken driver hits him with vehicle outside of Army fort
FAIRBANKS, Alaska (KTUU/Gray News) - A 29-year-old soldier was hit and killed by an alleged drunken driver at the main gate of an Army installation in Alaska.
