The late Queen had a lightning-fast response when her husband, Prince Philip, told her to shut up

In an article in the UK's The Mirror, a royal aide looks back at the final few years of Queen Elizabeth II and Prince Philip's married life.

An unnamed palace aide who was privy to the conversation between the Queen and her husband revealed that they bickered like any other couple.

In one incident, Philip was overhead telling the then 94-year-old Queen to shut up.

He said the words, Oh, do shut up, you silly woman.

The Queen had a lightning-fast response to his words. She was reported to have said, "I am not a silly woman, I am the Queen."

Philip and the Queen spent the Covid-19 pandemic in isolation together and were reported to have gotten very close after the ups and downs of married life. This was just a few years before both of their deaths.
