Meghan Markle cried after Prince William released a defiant statement

The Mirror recalls the moment Meghan Markle burst into tears in reaction to a defiant statement by Prince William.

The incident was revealed by Prince Harry in their Netflix show. According to Harry, the media had released a story that William had bullied Harry and Meghan into leaving the royal family.

Later, the story about William's bullying was squashed after the palace released a statement to imply that Harry supported William and there was no bullying involved. According to Harry, he had never made any statement in support of William.

Harry had this to say about the incident and why it led Meghan to tears,

"I couldn't believe it. No one had asked me permission to put my name to a statement like that. And I rang Meghan and I told her and she burst into floods of tears because within four hours they were happy to lie to protect my brother and yet for three years, they were never willing to tell the truth to protect us."
