As much as college football fans want to see the Los Angeles Chargers go with a Michigan Wolverines football player as their first pick in the 2024 NFL Draft, they’ll probably take their chance with one in a later round. Jim Harbaugh’s first NFL Draft after returning to the NFL will be a big one for his squad who hold the 5th overall pick in the draft.

The Chargers are drowning in salary cap excess and have several holes to fill at non-skill positions. Fox college football analyst Joel Klatt says he envisions the perfect fit to complete their offense at least.

“Knowing what I know about Jim Harbaugh and knowing what I know about his philosophy, the way that he likes to play offense and all the offenses that he’s had dating back to Stanford, and then with the 49ers, and then obviously with Michigan, what did they always have? A versatile group of tight ends,” Klatt said on Wednesday’s episode of The Joel Klatt Show.

He sees the only logical option as the No. 1 tight end on the board, Brock Bowers.

“Brock Bowers to the Chargers,” Klatt said as if stating the obvious. “I love that pick. That was my first one where I was like, ‘Yep, I love this. Brock Bowers under Jim Harbaugh,’” Klatt said.
