Top 100 2026 Baltimore (Md.) St. Frances safety Jireh Edwards notched a Michigan offer more than a year ago.

Since then, there have been plenty of changes in Ann Arbor, with the Wolverines bringing in an entirely new defensive staff. However, U-M stopped by St. Frances during the spring evaluation period and re-offered Edwards.

“I was extremely blessed to get offered again by the University of Michigan,” Edwards said. “Everybody that goes down there always has good reviews. It’s a great program and they know how to win.”

Edwards is now looking forward to building a relationship with new Michigan secondary coach LaMar Morgan.

“He’s a cool, confident and humble guy,” Edwards said. “He said that they really liked my game and wanted to make sure that I knew that I had an offer from them. I just have to build more of a relationship with him.”

Michigan has recruited well at St. Frances in the past, landing star players like former running back Blake Corum and current pass rusher Derrick Moore.

And that’s definitely moving the needle for Edwards.

“It’s really cool seeing Blake Corum and Derrick Moore having success there,” Edwards said “Jaishawn Barham is about to play there this season. It shows that Michigan really cares about St. Frances players.”

Edwards added that he was impressed with Michigan’s run to the national championship last season.

“I like the winning culture,” Edwards said. “They just won the natty. I was one of those guys that predicted them to win the natty from the get-go. The defensive backs are one of a kind. Mike Sainristil and Will Johnson are great players.”

The next step for Edwards is making his first-ever visit, which he hopes will take place at some point in the near future.

“I’m definitely going to try to make a visit up there,” Edwards said. “I want to see if they are a family oriented staff. Can they bring me in and treat me like family? I want to see the campus, the facilities and all that stuff.”

Along with Michigan, Edwards holds offers from Alabama, Florida, Georgia, Miami, Ohio State, Oregon, Tennessee, USC and others.

At 6-foot-1, 200 pounds, Edwards is ranked as the No. 6 safety and No. 56 overall prospect in the country, per the On3 Industry Ranking. He is also ranked as the No. 3 overall recruit in the state of Maryland for next cycle.
