Toastique, the artisan toast and juice café conceptualized on the East Coast, is opening the doors to its first Ann Arbor location on August 10th, beginning at 8am. Located at 200 E Washington St, steps away from the University of Michigan, the first 100 guests in line at Toastique’s community-focused Grand Opening event will receive $50 in Toastique rewards dollars, granted with a $10 minimum purchase, to be used on future visits via the Toastique loyalty program.

Toastique is known for its gourmet toast creations, smoothie bowls, nutrient-rich cold-pressed juices, espresso and coffee, and other convenient grab-and-go options. Toastique franchisees, Candace and Austin Kovar decided to bring Toastique to the Great Lakes State to pursue their passion for entrepreneurism and invest in a concept aligned with their belief that prioritizing healthy, nutritious foods is essential for overall wellness. The couple first considered Toastique as a business opportunity back in 2019 but it ended up not being the right time as they started growing their family. Keeping tabs on the concept and seeing the brand grow to over 20 locations in just a couple of years revived their interest and everything started to fall into place.

“Running my own business has been a goal of mine for the longest time and, since having my daughter, I hope to pave a way and be a role model to her that strong-minded women can do anything they set their minds to,” said Candace Kovar, franchisee and owner of Toastique Ann Arbor in a statement. “I grew up in the restaurant industry, but when it came down to deciding what type of concept we wanted to run, Toastique was a clear fit for us. The city of Ann Arbor is future-focused and Toastique is too. We want to complement the communal atmosphere of Ann Arbor with a concept where locals can gather and enjoy a relaxing brunch or post-workout meal that’s filled with high-quality healthy produce and responsibly sourced ingredients. We can’t wait to join the Ann Arbor community on August 10th for a big grand opening celebration!”

Standout items on the wellness-focused menu include Smoked Salmon Toast (smoked pastrami salmon, herbed cream cheese spread, arugula, cucumber, pickled onion, capers, toasty seasoning, microgreens, lemon twist on sourdough toast), Spicy Crab Toast (lump crab, melted swiss and fontina, sriracha aioli, tomato, bibb lettuce, jalapeño, microgreens, lemon twist on Rustico toast). The concept offers a variety of bowls including the PB & B Bowl (acai, bananas, blueberry, peanut butter and almond milk topped with banana, blueberry, peanuts, granola, chopped dates and honey roasted peanut butter drizzle). Other menu offerings include freshly blended smoothies, such as the Green Machine Smoothie (banana, pineapple, mango, spinach, kale, hemp seeds, flax seeds, lime and coconut water). Toastique offers a variety of coffee and espresso offerings such as cold brew, and Iced Collagen Lattes. The concept offers Cold-Pressed Juices, available on tap and in bottles, and grab-and-go salads for those looking for to-go options.

Originating in 2018 in Washington, D.C., Toastique has garnered national acclaim for its fresh and artistic approach to crafting exquisite food grounded in paying homage to the natural beauty and simplicity found in responsibly sourced ingredients. Employing fresh produce and curating unique, thoughtful flavor combinations, Toastique has cultivated a rich menu of enticing and health-conscious toasts, smoothies, cold-pressed juices, and more.

The new 1293 sq. ft. location will feature indoor and outdoor seating and is located centrally to restaurants and bars including Haymaker Public House, Mash, Blue Nile Ethiopian, and is a short walk to the University of Michigan campus. Once open, the Ann Arbor location will be open from 7am-5pm Monday through Sunday.
