Several in-state underclassmen prospects attended the annual BBQ at The Big House at Michigan, including three-star 2026 Saline (Mich.) High linebacker Isaiah Harris .

The sophomore went to Ann Arbor twice during spring camp a few months ago, so his return last weekend was another chance to get a closer look at the hometown school.

“My return to Michigan was really good,” Harris told The Wolverine . “The festivities they had there were awesome. I really enjoyed my time.”

Saline is roughly a 15-minute drive from U-M. The close proximity means Harris grew up a fan of the Wolverines.

“The facilities, campus, and all the things available are top-notch,” Harris said. “They have everything you could ever want and need right in the city of Ann Arbor. This is really convenient because you don’t have to travel far. When you want to get work in, you’ll be working out in some of the best facilities around.”

Harris took part in drill instruction that Michigan linebackers coach Brian Jean-Mary led at the barbecue.

“The workout with Coach BJ was good work,” Harris said. “I definitely learned some new things, which Coach did a very good job explaining things to me. I thought I did well throughout the workout.”

Harris is building a relationship with Jean-Mary this offseason.

“I love his coaching style,” Harris said. “He has a good sense of humor and is personable, but at the same time, wants perfection and wants things done the right way.”

Linebacker recruits like Harris are showing high interest in Michigan because of the players it’s developed in recent years, especially the unit that was on this past season’s national championship run.

“The production Michigan has had at (linebacker) has been constant,” Harris said. “Every few years, there’s a new successful Michigan (linebacker) core. This past year, they had Junior Colson and Michael Barrett , two great LBs.”

Harris plans to come back to campus in-season as he continues to work towards earning an offer.

“I’m starting to feel real good about Michigan,” Harris said. “I’ve visited there a few times now, and every time I go, I learn something new. An offer would mean a whole lot to me and it’d definitely be one of my top schools.”

At 6-foot-0, 195 pounds, Harris is listed as the No. 454 overall prospect and No. 35 linebacker in the country, according to the On3 Industry Ranking , a weighted average that utilizes all four primary recruiting media services. He’s also the No. 10 in-state player.
