Fleet Week Activities at The Intrepid Museum From May 22 - 27

The Intrepid Museum will be a primary destination for the 36th annual Fleet Week from May 22–May 29, featuring activities and events that celebrate the armed forces. Fleet Week is America’s premier tribute and “thank you” to the men and women of the armed forces who answer the call on our nation’s behalf. Events will take place at the Intrepid Museum and on Pier 86 (46th Street and 12th Avenue, Manhattan). All events on Pier 86 are free and open to the public.
All activities will take place rain or shine. Exact locations may be changed in case of inclement weather.
Wednesday, May 22
9:30am-11:30am: Fleet Week kicks off with the arrival of Navy and Coast Guard ships in New York City, traveling up the Hudson River and passing by the Intrepid Museum. Hundreds of service men and women will man the rails of their ships as they sail into New York City. Ships expected to pass by the Intrepid Museum and pier locations include:
Manhattan, Pier 88 South: (Public tours only on Saturday, May 25, from 9am-4pm)
Amphibious assault ship, USS Bataan (LHD 5) from Norfolk, Virginia
Manhattan, Pier 90 North: (Public tours only on Saturday, May 25, from 9am-4pm)
Baden-Württemberg-class frigate FGS Baden-Württemberg (F-222) from Germany
Berlin-class replenishment ship FGS Frankfurt am Main (A-1412) from Germany
Manhattan, Intrepid Museum, Pier 86: (USNA YPs public tours on May 23-24, from 10am-5pm; USCGC Sturgeon Bay public tours on May 23, from 10am-3pm, May 24-26, from 10am-5pm, and on May 27, from 12-5pm)

Thursday, May 23
6:00pm-9:00pm: The Intrepid Museum's Salute to Freedom gala will take place on the Museum’s hangar deck. For more information and to see this year’s honorees, visit IntrepidMuseum.org/SalutetoFreedom.
Museum is open from 10:00am-3:00pm.
Friday, May 24
7:00pm: The Intrepid Museum’s annual summer movie series kicks off Memorial Day Weekend with a free screening of Top Gun: Maverick! Doors open at 7:00pm (entry is not guaranteed and is subject to capacity). Movie will begin at sunset. Space is limited and is available on a first-come, first-served basis.
Museum is open from 10:00am–5:00pm.
Saturday, May 25 and Sunday, May 26
10:00am-6:00pm: Explore free hands-on activities and interactive displays from the U.S. Army, U.S. Marine Corps, U.S. Coast Guard, Naval STEM, U.S. Air Force, Epic Balloons, That Planetarium Guy, USO, American Red Cross, Guide Dog Foundation/America’s VetDogs, Coca-Cola, Veterans Moving Forward, LEGOLAND Discovery Center Westchester, and more! Live performances will happen throughout the day, featuring the U.S. Coast Guard Jazz Band (Saturday and Sunday), Operation Encore: A Veteran Music Project (Saturday and Sunday), U.S. Army Silent Drill Team (Saturday and Monday), America’s Sweethearts (Saturday), The Satin Dollz (Sunday), and more. Visitors can also enjoy workshops and activities from the Intrepid Museum all day long and meet former Intrepid crew members.
Public tours of USCGC Sturgeon Bay, the newest of the United States Coast Guard 140-foot (43 m) Bay-class cutters, will be available from 10am-5pm on Intrepid Museum’s Pier 86. Visitors can also enjoy workshops and activities from the Intrepid Museum all day long and meet former Intrepid crew members.

Monday, May 27

10:00am: Join the Intrepid Museum for its annual Memorial Day ceremony honoring the men and women of the United States Armed Forces who have given their lives in defense of our nation. Civic and military leaders will offer remarks and join in a special wreath-laying ceremony in honor of the fallen. The ceremony will conclude with a flyover by Navy fighter jets.
