BOOP! The Betty Boop Musical to Open on Broadway in 2025

The iconic and beloved animated character Betty Boop is set to make her Broadway debut in BOOP! The Betty Boop Musical, opening at the Broadhurst Theatre on April 5, 2025. Previews for this highly anticipated family musical will commence on March 11, 2025, following its successful run in Chicago last year.

With a star-studded creative team, BOOP! The Betty Boop Musical features music by multiple Grammy Award-winning composer David Foster and lyrics by Tony Award-nominated Susan Birkenhead. The book is written by Tony Award winner Bob Martin, and the production is directed and choreographed by the Tony Award-winning Jerry Mitchell.

Betty Boop, the enduring symbol of empowerment and joy, takes center stage in this vibrant new musical. Known for her distinctive voice, style, and indomitable spirit, Betty Boop embarks on a colorful, musical adventure through New York City. BOOP! The Betty Boop Musical premiered at Broadway In Chicago’s CIBC Theatre from November 19 to December 24, 2023, receiving critical acclaim and setting the stage for its Broadway debut.

Betty Boop, created by animation pioneer Max Fleischer, first appeared in 1930. Originally a dog-like character in the “Talkartoons” series, Betty evolved into a human character by 1932, becoming the only female animated star of the era. Voiced by Mae Questel, Betty starred in over 100 cartoons and has since appeared in numerous films, TV specials, and commercials. Today, Fleischer Studios continues to celebrate Betty Boop as a global licensing phenomenon, captivating millions of fans worldwide.
