    2024-09-04

The chilling world of Stephen King comes to life once again this October as Salem’s Lot, the highly anticipated Max Original film, debuts on the streaming platform. Adapted from King’s 1975 bestselling novel of the same name, this New Line Cinema production promises to deliver haunting scares, reuniting the powerhouse producers behind The Conjuring universe and It films.

Helming the adaptation is Gary Dauberman, a seasoned horror filmmaker known for his work on It and Annabelle Comes Home. Dauberman not only directs and writes the screenplay but also serves as an executive producer alongside James Wan and Michael Clear for Atomic Monster, Roy Lee for Vertigo, and Mark Wolper. This team of horror visionaries is set to evoke new terror from King’s classic vampire tale, according to a press release.

In the eerie town of Jerusalem’s Lot, author Ben Mears returns to his childhood home, hoping to find inspiration for his next novel. What he encounters is far more sinister—his hometown is being ravaged by a vampire, forcing Mears into a deadly struggle to protect the town from an ancient evil.

Leading the cast is Lewis Pullman as Ben Mears, joined by a talented ensemble that includes Alfre Woodard as Dr. Cody, Makenzie Leigh as Susan Norton, Bill Camp as Matthew Burke, Spencer Treat Clark as Mike Ryerson, Pilou Asbæk as Straker, and John Benjamin Hickey as Father Callahan. This diverse lineup promises to bring depth and emotion to the horror-driven narrative.

The new adaptation aims to bring fresh energy to one of King’s most beloved and unsettling stories. With the creative forces behind some of the highest-grossing horror films in history, Salem’s Lot is poised to captivate both diehard King fans and newcomers alike, blending nostalgia with the modern sophistication of today’s horror films.

Expect spine-chilling suspense and breathtaking visuals as Salem’s Lot makes its debut this October on Max.
