Following a critically acclaimed world premiere at Chicago Shakespeare Theater, The Notebook opened on Broadway on March 14, 2024. By its final curtain on December 15, the show will have played 35 previews and 317 regular performances at the Schoenfeld Theatre.

The musical’s success has extended beyond the stage, with its Original Broadway Cast Recording debuting at #1 on the Top Broadway chart in Music Connect. The album, featuring music and lyrics by multi-platinum singer-songwriter Ingrid Michaelson, includes the breakout single "My Days," which recently surpassed 4 million streams.

Critics have praised The Notebook as “romantic, life-affirming and ingeniously adapted” (USA Today), with Entertainment Weekly calling it “full of butterfly-inducing highs, stunning performances, and beautiful songs.” The New York Amsterdam News declared it “one of the most epic, romantic, touching musicals ever to grace Broadway.”

Produced by Kevin McCollum and Kurt Deutsch, The Notebook features a Tony Award-nominated book by Bekah Brunstetter, known for her work on NBC's This Is Us. The production is directed by Michael Greif (Dear Evan Hansen, Next to Normal) and Schele Williams (Aida, The Wiz), with choreography by Katie Spelman (Associate Choreographer on Moulin Rouge! The Musical).

The talented cast includes Tony Award-winner Maryann Plunkett as Older Allie, Tony Award® nominee Dorian Harewood as Older Noah, Joy Woods as Middle Allie, Ryan Vasquez as Middle Noah, Jordan Tyson as Younger Allie, and John Cardoza as Younger Noah. Supporting roles are played by Andréa Burns, Carson Stewart, Yassmin Alers, Alex Benoit, and others.

Throughout its Broadway run, The Notebook has garnered numerous accolades, including Tony Award nominations for Best Book of a Musical (Bekah Brunstetter), Best Performance by an Actress in a Leading Role in a Musical (Maryann Plunkett), and Best Performance by an Actor in a Leading Role in a Musical (Dorian Harewood). The show also won “Favorite New Song” at the Broadway.com Audience Choice Awards for the song “Carry You Home.”

The Notebook tells the deeply moving story of Allie and Noah, two people from different worlds whose enduring love defies the forces that seek to pull them apart. Based on a novel that has sold millions of copies worldwide and a film that is one of the highest-grossing romantic dramas of all time, the musical adaptation continues to capture hearts with its powerful portrayal of love’s timeless strength.

With scenic design by David Zinn and Brett J. Banakis, costume design by Paloma Young, and lighting design by Ben Stanton, the production’s stunning visuals complement its poignant narrative. As the show prepares to close on Broadway, audiences across the country can look forward to experiencing the magic of The Notebook when it embarks on its National Tour in 2025.
