Teen Shot Near Staten Island's McKee High School

According to authorities, a 17-year-old was shot outside of Ralph R. McKee CTE High School on Staten Island in the middle of the school day.

Just before 1 p.m., the teen was in the St. George neighborhood, close to McKee on Wall Street and St. Marks Place, when the gunshots started, according to the police.

After being shot in the left leg, the victim was brought to the hospital, where he is anticipated to make a full recovery.

McKee High School and Curtis High School were both immediately placed on lockdown after the incident.

A firearm was recovered on Wednesday from a 17-year-old who took the firearm into Curtis High School; that gun was determined to be loaded.

"Our students deserve to be safe in their neighborhoods, and we are working closely with the school to ensure students have the resources they need, including support from external violence interruption organizations," the DOE said in a statement.

No arrests have been made either in Wednesday recovery of a firearm or in Thursday's shooting. The investigations are ongoing.
