ANTIGO — On Sept. 17, the Antigo Swim Club and Culver’s teamed up for a heartwarming fundraiser that brought the community together in support of young athletes.

The event, deemed a resounding success, saw enthusiastic participation from both club members and local residents, making it a memorable evening filled with joy and community spirit.

In an effort to keep the swim club accessible to all children, regardless of financial circumstances, the Antigo Swim Club has always strived to maintain low costs. The fundraiser at Culver’s was a testament to this mission, as it aimed to ensure that no child is ever unable to participate in the sport due to financial burden.

The evening was bustling with activity as the young swimmers from the Antigo Swim Club took on an unusual yet exciting role. They served food to customers at the drive-thru and inside the dining room, showcasing their dedication and teamwork outside the pool. The sight of these diligent swimmers extending their service to the community was heartwarming and inspiring.

Adding to the festive atmosphere, the club’s beloved penguin mascot made an appearance, much to the delight of the children and families present. The mascot’s presence brought smiles and added a touch of fun to the evening, making it a memorable event for all.

“The support from the community was overwhelming and we are incredibly thankful,” said Paula Royce, President of the Antigo Swim Club. “Every contribution helps us continue our mission of fostering excellence in swimming and ensuring that every child has the opportunity to participate and grow in this sport.”

Parents of the young swimmers were equally enthusiastic about the event. Liz Voss, a parent with three children in the club, remarked, “It was wonderful to see the kids so involved and excited. They not only enjoy swimming but also understand the importance of community and teamwork. Events like this teach them valuable life lessons beyond the pool.”

The Antigo Swim Club is dedicated to not only providing competitive opportunities for swimmers of all abilities but also to instilling values such as diligence, dedication, respect, teamwork, friendship, and sportsmanship. These core principles guide the club in its efforts to help young swimmers reach their personal and team goals, while also building strong character throughout their swim careers.

Their vision extends beyond the pool, promoting the sport and values of competitive swimming across all ability levels. By encouraging athletes to strive for their full potential, the club aims to improve the long-term quality of the Swim Club and create a supportive environment where every swimmer can thrive.

The success of this fundraiser not only highlighted the community’s support for the Antigo Swim Club but also emphasized the club’s commitment to its core values and long-term goals. With the funds raised, the club can continue to provide opportunities for young swimmers to reach their full potential and build a strong foundation for their future.

With the start of the swim season right around the corner, beginning on October 28, registration is currently open online. For those who have questions or need assistance with registering, there will be a registration night held at the Clara R. McKenna Aquatic Center on Monday, October 14, 2024, at 5 PM. If you are unsure if the swim club is right for your child, you can try our club for free for the first two weeks.

As the evening came to a close, the sense of community and shared purpose was unmistakable. The Antigo Swim Club aextend their heartfelt thanks to everyone who participated and supported this event, proving once again that together, we can make a difference.
