Mrs. Ruby (Spear) Szitta celebrated her 95th birthday recently at an open house hosted by her family. The party was held at Chocadoodledoo’s in Antigo with many relatives and friends in attendance, including Ruby’s sister, Jean Clay, who celebrated her 90th birthday last summer.

Mrs. Szitta, a life-long resident of Langlade County, graduated from the Langlade County Teachers College in 1948. After beginning her career by teaching in several one-room schools, Ruby continued to work as a teacher and instructional assistant within the Antigo school district until retiring in 1993.

Mrs. Szitta also served as Clerk of Summit Township from 1969 to 1999, worked at almost every election held between 1966 and 2020, and was also a dedicated 4-H leader of the Summit Satellites 4-H Club. Ruby attends St. John’s Catholic Church in Bloomville, where she is a longtime member.
