APALACHIN, N.Y. (WIVT/WBGH) – A local non-profit dedicated to offering free childcare, held its biggest fundraiser of the year and took to the links.

Mom’s House held its annual Hart and Hills Memorial Golf Tournament at The Links at Hiawatha Landing.

The tournament is a captain and crew format with a shot gun start in the afternoon.

Mom’s House provides free childcare for children of low-income single parents who are enrolled in an educational program.

Executive Director Bethany Peake says the tournament is a fundraiser, in honor of Mr. Hill and Mr. Hart, who were two major donors to Mom’s House.

“We have 32 teams which is about 128 players. And then we have about 15 to 30 volunteers at any given time. This is one of Mom’s House biggest fundraisers. it goes a long way to support all of our programs and services towards our parents. Volunteers include past graduates of our services, local community members, and board members,” said Peake.

At the tournament there were additional games including a hole-in-one contest, with a cash giveaway of $10,000 and a putting contest to win $250.
