William Farr purchased his lucky Quick Pick ticket from Quality Mart on Chapel Hill Road in Raleigh. He matched the numbers on four white balls and the red Powerball in the April 6 drawing to win $50,000. Because he bought a Power Play ticket, his prize tripled to $150,000 when the 3X multiplier hit.

A rabies notice was issued in Wake County after a fox bit a woman Thursday in Knightdale.It happened in a neighborhood near the corner of Kemp Drive and Hodge Road. According to Wake County, the woman attempted to break up a fight between the fox and a cat.Wake County Public Health and Wake County Animal Control confirmed the fox was captured and later tested positive for rabies.The cat involved has not been located yet.No other incidents have been reported in connection with the fox or cat. Franklin Street Starbucks Temporarily Closed; New Location to Open Friday
The Starbucks location at 103 East Franklin Street temporarily closed its doors Sunday as the business moves to a larger storefront across the street. Located underneath Top of the Hill Restaurant & Brewery at 100 East Franklin Street, the new location is tentatively set to open Friday at 6 a.m, ahead of the new UNC school year. Playmakers SYC dazzles with The Prom
The Prom – this year’s musical production by The Summer Youth Conservatory (SYC) at Playmakers Repertory Company, the resident theater company at UNC – is excellent. The show runs through Sunday, July 28. Tickets are $10 for youth and $20 for adults, and they can be purchased online or at the box office. The production is in one of the small theaters at the Gillings Center for Dramatic Art, as technical upgrades are made to the main Playmakers’ stage. The intimacy of the small theater is an added thrill.
