PITTSBURGH (KDKA) - A significant Microsoft outage is impacting services and businesses nationwide, including here in Pittsburgh. The computers in our newsroom were impacted, multiple airlines had grounded all flights, and even some airports shut down. As for Pittsburgh International Airport, American Airlines has told us that there is a technical issue impacting both them and multiple other air carriers - putting a ground stop in place. PIT has said that "some airlines operating at PIT have issued delays as a result of the IT issue affecting companies worldwide" and encouraged passengers to check their flight status with the airline. Police safely locate 9-year-old Lena Pham who had been reported missing from Braddock
PITTSBURGH (KDKA) — UPDATE: State police have said that Pham has been found and is safe. Original story follows below:Police in the Pittsburgh area are looking for a missing 9-year-old girl from Braddock Borough. Pennsylvania State Police said in a post on social media that 9-year-old Lena Pham was last seen in the 200 block of Third St. in Braddock around 10 p.m. on Thursday. State police said she may be "at special risk of harm or injury." Officials said the young girl may be in a black sedan with her mother, Trang Dang. State police did not provide a make or model of the vehicle. Pham is described by law enforcement as being 4-foot-8 with black hair and brown eyes. She was last seen wearing a white t-shirt with black lettering, black shorts and sandals. Anyone with information can call 911 or 412-299-1607.
Saxonburg Police acquire new K-9 from Middlesex
For the first time in over a decade, the Saxonburg Police will have a police dog on their staff, courtesy of a transfer from the adjacent Middlesex Police Department. The K-9 officer, a German shepherd named Bolt, was transferred from Middlesex Township to Saxonburg this week. According to Saxonburg Police Chief Joe Beachem, this is the first police dog to join the Saxonburg Police Department in at least 14 years.
Officer shoots armed man in Forest Hills, police say
PITTSBURGH (KDKA) — A Churchill Borough Police Department officer shot an armed man in Forest Hills on Thursday, authorities said. The Allegheny County Police Department said in a news release that officials were notified of a "disturbance" in the 200 block of Glasgow Road around 9:30 p.m. Police said multiple departments responded to the scene. When officers arrived, the news release said they "heard a firearm being chambered and a shot fired." County police said officers saw a 48-year-old man armed with a firearm and a Churchill officer shot the man in the torso.The injured man was taken to a local hospital in critical condition, authorities said. His identity has not been released. It was not immediately clear if the man pointed his firearm at law enforcement or why he fired a shot. No officers were injured, police said. Police said there is no threat to the public at this time. No other information was released on Thursday night.
