What's the best restaurant at the Shore?

According to Yelp's most recent rankings, it's 618 in Freehold Borough.

The New American eatery clocks in with 4.6 stars, with almost 800 ratings.

It's listed at No. 7 of the 100 Best Restaurants in New Jersey.

The restaurant opened in November 2016, the brainchild of Christopher Dutka of Freehold Township and Matthew Borowski of Millstone Township. It also offers catering and hosts special events in its banquet room.

"With our combined interest in all things food and a lot of hard work, 618 emerged from our hopes and dreams to brick and mortar reality," the pair write on the restaurant's website.

According to the Yelp ranking, the restaurant is best-known for its short rib ravioli, crab cakes, skirt steak, sticky toffee cake, Angry Shrimp pasta, pork chop, stuffed mushrooms, filet mignon, braised short rib and halibut.

The entry Yelp points to in its ranking reads: "Consistently great service, food and atmosphere. I have seen this building change restaurants several times throughout the years but 618 is here to stay. I've watched the building expand and the interior become even more beautiful with every renovation. The menu doesn't change often but there are always specials to switch it up a bit if you come here a lot. The bar menu constantly changes with inventive new drinks and their presentation is always phenomenal. Service is another place where 618 is consistent. Service has always been good. If you're in the area, I highly recommend." It's signed by a user called Jennifer D.

"As we look to the future, we hope to continue to provide our guests of new and old a place to enjoy an atmosphere with a modern rustic feel. Our guests will always be provided with our extraordinary service, our unique handcrafted cocktails, our meticulously prepared dishes, our signature Pat LaFrieda steaks, our fresh fish delivered daily, our farm-to-table produce, our impeccable homemade desserts, and a new exquisite bar that is sure to impress," the owners say on their website.

Borowski plans to open Mezcal, a Mexican steakhouse, at 292 Route 516 in Old Bridge soon.
