A storefront where crafters could buy yarn and picture frames will become a place where residents can visit with a doctor for their health care needs.

CentraState Healthcare System, in partnership with Atlantic Health System, will open an 18,000-square-foot care facility at Manalapan Commons on Route 9. It was previously occupied by A.C. Moore, an arts and crafts retailer that closed all of its stores in late 2019.

Urban Edge Properies, the shopping center's owner, announced the lease alongside the opening of an Atlantic Health System urgent care clinic at Greenbrook Commons in Watchung.

“As Atlantic Health focuses on providing patients with accessible care in ways that are more convenient to them in central New Jersey, these Manalapan and Watchung locations offer significant new opportunities to help them meet existing and new patients,” said Justin Lustig, vice president of leasing for Urban Edge, in a statement.

CentraState said the new center for primary and multispeciality care will open in "the next few months."
