Former New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie will teach a course on political campaigns this semester at Yale University. The weekly seminar, “How to Run a Political Campaign,” will be offered at Yale’s Jackson School of Global Affairs and is open to both undergraduates and graduate students.

The course, as described in the syllabus , will cover aspects of running for office, including communications, fundraising, and strategic leadership goals. It will also delve into how technology-dependent political campaigns have become in recent years.

Christie, 61, brings first-hand experience to the classroom after being U.S. Attorney for New Jersey from 2002 to 2008, then serving as governor from 2010 to 2018. He ran for the Republican presidential nomination in 2016 and 2024. Christie also assisted Trump with debate preparations in 2020.

Christie has not previously served as a teacher or professor. His new role at Yale University marks his first foray into academia.
