FREEHOLD – A Manasquan printing shop salesman has been accused of using a former client's credit card to make illegal purchases that netted him $200,000, authorities said.

Adam C. Kleinwaks, 55, has been charged with money laundering and theft, Monmouth County Prosecutor Raymond S. Santiago said in a statement Wednesday.

The Financial Crimes and Special Prosecutions Unit of the prosecutor's office was contacted by security staff at a credit card company earlier this year about the alleged theft. The unit investigated and found that Kleinwaks fraudulently used the former client's credit card to purchase $130,000 in labels for pool liners, authorities said. He then sold those labels to another company for $200,000, Santiago said.

Kleinwaks cashed the checks he received and deposited the money into his bank account, Santiago said.

No further details of those transactions were available.

Kleinwaks turned himself in last week. He was released on a summons and is scheduled to make a first appearance in Superior Court, Freehold on Oct. 10.

A call placed to Kleinwaks's listed attorney was not immediately returned.

The maximum penalty for the crimes Kleinwaks has been charged with is 10 years in prison each.

Santiago is urging anyone with further information about Kleinwaks's activities is to call Detective Robert Afanasewicz of the prosecutor's office at 800-533-7443.
