KSP conducting death investigation
Two dead bodies were found after Kentucky State Police troopers responded to a call at a Shelby Gap residence June 25. According to a statement from KSP Post 9, dispatchers received a call regarding a shooting on Kelly Mountain Road. Upon arriving troopers found husband and wife Rickie Potter, 57, and Sabrina Potter 51, had both suffered fatal gunshot injuries. The Pike County Coroner’s Office pronounced both dead at the scene.
Several celebrations set for Independence Day holiday
Numerous events and celebrations for the approaching Independence Day holiday are planned across Pike County beginning Saturday, June 29 and continuing through July 6. • The Marrowbone Volunteer Fire Department will kick off the holiday with a bang with its Fourth of July Independence Day Celebration. The event will be held on June 29 at the Wolfpit Industrial Park located off the new U.S. 460 near Marrowbone.
New Amazon Hub services to open locally
Amazon Hub Delivery was formally welcomed to Pike County as a ribbon-cutting for the new Southeast Kentucky Chamber of Commerce member was conducted June 25. A Pinsonfork man has been returned to custody after he escaped from a work detail last week. Andrew J. Eastwood, 48, of Pond Creek Road was booked at the Pike County Detention Center on charges of second-degree escape, probation violation, failure to appear, contempt of court and parole violation on June 19.
