APPLE GROVE, WV (WOWK)— The Nucor Steel plant has finished installing the foundation and work has started on constructing the buildings, according to company officials.

As residents see the progress, they are excited about the benefits the mill is bringing to the community.

“I think it’s going to bring a lot of more businesses and more jobs,” said Mandy Steele, general manager of the Funky Laundry company. “And I think it’s great to see this place build up.”

There have been some growing pains, as there is increased traffic for residents in the area, but it does not outweigh the excitement for the new mill.

The project still has at least 18 months before it is completed. However, Nucor has begun the process of hiring for positions.
