GRANDVIEW, Wash. -- Yakima Valley College's winery programs are inviting the community to experience how students learn the wine industry and enjoy tastings from student-crafted wine.

Teach, Tour and Taste will be Friday, April 12, 2024 from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m., education tours and tastings will follow at 7 p.m. The event will be at Yakima Valley Vintners located at the Grandview Campus of Yakima Valley College.

Yakima Valley Vintners is located at 110 Grandridge Road, Grandview. Directions from Yakima: Take Exit 73 from I-82 and turn left onto Wine Country Road, continue to the intersection of Grandridge Road. Directions from Pasco: Take Exit 75 from I-82 and turn right on Wine Country Road and continue to the intersection of Grandridge Road.

While this is a family friendly event, to participate in the tasting portion, attendees must be 21-years-old or older with valid identification.

Yakima Valley Vintners wines will also be purchasable by glass, bottle or case.

“One might think that wine is done quickly but there is a story behind each wine,” says student Esmeralda Cruz. “Each student is passionate about wine in different ways, and each of us put a bit of our own magic in it. I never knew the magic that happened while creating wine until I joined the program and I have enjoyed every bit of knowledge I learned.”

The Yakima Valley College Teaching Winery and the program Vineyard and Winery Technology is the only teaching winery in the region.

“This is an opportunity for the industry and community members to see what the students in the program have been working on, and a great chance for the students to share some of the trials and experimentations they have led,” said Ball.
