    Two Hermiston High School students named Ford Scholars

    HERMISTON, Ore. - The Hermiston School District announced that high school seniors Evelin Contreras Cardenas and Guadalupe Esparza have been chosen as Ford Scholars and will receive college scholarships from The Ford Family Foundation.

    This scholarships will meet 90% of their financial needs, up to $40,000 per year, for all four years of college. Nine Hermiston High School students have received this scholarship over the past three years.

    The Ford Scholars program helps to make college dreams a reality. They can choose any college in Oregon, without financial stress. Cardenas and Esparza have both decided to attend the University of Oregon this fall.

    Superintendent Dr. Mooney said, "Evelin and Guadalupe's achievements are a testament to their hard work and the supportive environment at Hermiston High School. We are incredibly proud of all our Ford Scholars and look forward to their continued success."

    Up to 130 scholarships are awarded every year to students in Oregon and Siskiyou County, California.
