HERMISTON, Ore. -- Two seniors at Hermiston High School have been named as Ford Scholars and will receive a scholarship of up to $40,000 per year, for four years of college.

Hermiston seniors Guadalupe Esparza and Evelin Contreras Cardenas were named the Ford Scholars and plan to attend University of Oregon in the fall of 2024.

Hermiston High School has named nine students Ford Scholars over the last three years.

The Ford Scholars scholarship is a prestigious scholarship program offered by the Ford Family Foundation. This scholarship will meet 90% of the scholars financial need.

The Ford Scholars program helps make the college dream a reality for students. It allows students to choose any in-state college without the financial burden.

Superintendent Dr. Mooney said, "Evelin and Guadalupe's achievements are a testament to their hard work and the supportive environment at Hermiston High School. We are incredibly proud of all our Ford Scholars and look forward to their continued success."
