Finley Fire | Lineage still burning 5 weeks later, townhall meeting planned for those affected

FINLEY, Wash. -- Fire crews are still working at the Lineage cold warehouse fire near Finley, more than five weeks after it first caught fire.

The fire started April 21 and continues to smolder as demolition crews begin to tear it down.

The demolition started last week and tearing it down piece by piece will allow fire crews to access the area that's still burning.

The Benton Franklin Health District is hosting a Townhall meeting on Wednesday, May 29 at 6:30 p.m. for anyone who has been affected by the fire.

It will take place at River View High School in Kennewick.

Environmental experts and local health officials are expected to be on hand to discuss updates as well as how the air is being monitored for potential risks.

Benton County Fire District #1 said demolition is going slow, which is what they expected. With food now rotting in the warehouse, the sun is drying it out, creating more fuel for the blaze.
