KENNEWICK, Wash. -- With worsening drought conditions in Kennewick, the Kennewick Irrigation District is asking customers to begin a voluntary watering schedule.

The City of Kennewick said a mandatory watering schedule may be inevitable but being proactive about water conservation can help either shorten the time needed for a mandator schedule or possibly remove it.

The city's watering schedule is based off the last digit of your property address.

For example, if your address is 201[5] South Ely Street you're in zone 5.

    The voluntary watering schedule:

    Sunday morning: 1 and 5

    Sunday evening: 0 and 4

    Monday morning: 3, 7, 8

    Monday evening: 6 and 9

    Tuesday morning: 1 and 5

    Tuesday evening: 0 and 2

    Wednesday morning: 3 and 7

    Wednesday evening: 4, 6, 9

    Thursday morning: 5 and 8

    Thursday evening: 0 and 2

    Friday morning: 1 and 3

    Friday evening: 4 and 6

    Saturday morning: 7 and 8

    Saturday evening: 2 and 9

The City of Kennewick said drip irrigation systems and hose watering are encouraged and are no affected by the schedule.

For more information or updates on the City's watering schedule, stay up-to-date on KID's website.

Makes me wonder what I pay when using City of Richland water for irrigation.

For what we are paying it certainly is, was $50 a year in 2000 and now around $400 it is just ridiculous.
