System Off Oregon Coast Brings Chance of Showers and Thunderstorms

Tonight, an upper low off the coast of Oregon will continue to move south. Most areas will stay dry, but there’s a chance of showers and isolated thunderstorms in the Cascade east slopes and nearby valleys. Winds are picking up in the eastern mountains and Wallowas , otherwise increasing clouds and lows in the 50s.

Tomorrow, the low will move inland, bringing showers to eastern Oregon and Washington, with isolated thunderstorms across the region. In the afternoon, a gusty wind front may develop near the Tri-Cities area, bringing strong winds and possibly blowing dust.

Friday night into Saturday, the low will split, leading to fewer showers in lower areas, though the Cascades and eastern mountains will still have a chance of rain and thunderstorms. Temperatures will drop, with highs in the 60s to mid-70s, continuing into Saturday.

Long Term: Sunday through Thursday

On Sunday, the low will move east, with a few showers lingering near the Idaho border. A ridge of high pressure will bring warmer weather on Monday before another trough moves in, bringing slightly cooler temperatures and breezy conditions on Tuesday. Wednesday will be the coolest day, but by Thursday, high pressure will return, bringing warmer weather back.
