    Chilly Weekend with Rain in Mountains, Cooler Temperatures Prevail Until Next Week

    Tonight through Sunday: A large low-pressure system will continue to move inland, keeping things active with showers and thunderstorms possible through this evening. Expect gusty winds with these storms, showers should dry up by 10 PM. Grab a coat because overnight lows will dip into the 40s and 50s

    As this system moves across the region on Saturday, more showers and thunderstorms are likely, especially in the mountains like the Blues, Wallowas , and Cascades. Sunday will start with some leftover rain in the eastern mountains, but by the afternoon, things should dry out and calm down.

    Temperatures will stay cool, with today being the chilliest day. Tomorrow will warm up just a bit, and by Sunday, highs should reach the upper 70s to low 80s. The Columbia Basin, including the Tri-Cities, has a good chance of hitting 80 degrees. Enjoy this cooler, rainy weekend because summer heat and dry weather are expected to return next week.

    Monday through Friday: Next week starts with a low-pressure system bringing gusty winds on Tuesday, especially in the Kittitas Valley and the Columbia Gorge. Winds could reach over 40 mph in some spots. Rain chances are low, with only the northern Washington Cascades likely to see much precipitation.

    By midweek, high pressure will build in, leading to warmer temperatures. Highs will start climbing back into the 90s, bringing summer heat after a stretch of cooler weather. Expect dry conditions to return through the end of the week.
