KENNEWICK, Wash. - It was a packed courtroom at the Benton County Justice Center and everyone was in a celebratory mood.

Desiree Garcia graduated from the Benton County Mental Health Program.

It's intensive that is uniquely made to help each participant find their path to recovery.

Garcia says you can't just go through the motions. You have to really put in the work and use the tools and resources provided to you.

"As long as you tap into the right resources, you're going to be okay," Garcia said. "You have to get involved. That's the main thing. Clean sweep, you have to get involved. The more you're connected with your outside resources, the better you're going to be."

At the end of the program, Garcia was able to continue her recovery and shred her previous criminal history goodbye.
