Sunny and seasonal for Monday, windy and much cooler for Tuesday

    By Josh Culbreth,

Today: There could be a shower or two in the Cascades today, but that’s a pretty low-end chance. The rest of us will be dry with sunny to mostly sunny skies. Highs will be fairly seasonal with temperature in the mid to upper-80s for most spots in the area. Winds should be pretty light, and air quality should be pretty good.

Tonight: Showers in the Cascades will likely fizzle out overnight. Skies will turn a bit cloudier in the Kittitas/Yakima valleys and Lower Columbia Basin, but no one will be socked in with clouds. Overnight lows will be cool to mild depending on where you live. It’ll drop down into the mid-50s in the Kittitas and Yakima valleys, with low-60s for the Lower Columbia Basin and foothills of the Blues. It’ll feel a little bit cooler in the Kittitas Valley with gusts picking up to 20 MPH.

Extended: Tuesday will feature slightly better shower chances, albeit still pretty low. Around lunchtime, there could be a shower or two in the Blue Foothills and Blue Mountains. A bit later into the afternoon, a slightly better chance for thunderstorms exists along the Cascades. However, the biggest story tomorrow will be the winds. They could gust between 25-45 MPH, with the strongest winds in the Kittitas Valley.

    Wind Advisory

NWS Pendleton has issued a Wind Advisory for the Kittitas Valley on Tuesday from 9 AM - 9 PM. They’ve also issued one for the Lower Columbia Basin on Tuesday from 11 AM - 9 PM.

Winds will pick up due to a cold front that’ll drop our temperatures into Tuesday and Wednesday. Our coolest day will be on Wednesday, as highs will be about 10-15 degrees below average (mid to upper-70s in the Tri-Cities and Yakima). However, expect highs to race back up to more summer-like values. By Saturday and Sunday, we’ll actually return to values about 5 degrees above average (mid-90s in the Tri-Cities and Yakima).
