Pasco authorities investigate vegetation fires as possible arson case

    By Erin Wencl, Rylee Fitzgerald,

PASCO, Wash. - Pasco authorities investigated three suspicious fires as arson .

The fires started at Road 52 and Court Street in an open field. The first fire happened the week of August 12. Neighbors we spoke to who live near the open field said they saw a suspicious person hanging around but didn't see anyone start the fire.

The second fire happened on the early evening of August 21 in the same spot as the previous fire. Neighbors we talked to said they saw another suspicious person in the area, who walked up to a home to tell them the field was on fire.

A few hours later, police and fire crews were called to another fire in the same open field, this time on the opposite side. It was there where Pasco police officers said they arrested a juvenile. That teen has been taken to the Juvenile Justice Center. There was no further information on that suspect at the time of this story.

The fires are also close to Pasco Fire Station 84 and that's why firefighters were able to be on scene in a minute to put out the flames and stopping it before it spread to nearby homes.
