    Community gathers to celebrate local women in business at career conference

    KENNEWICK, Wash. -- The biggest Women in Business Career Conference in Eastern Washington took place Tuesday.

    Hundreds of women came together at the Three Rivers Convention Center in Kennewick to celebrate local women in business and host the Athena Awards Luncheon.

    During the luncheon, two local women were awarded with the Athena Leadership Award.

    Apple Valley News Now spoke with City of Pasco Council woman Blanche Barajas and she said events like these make a big difference.

    "W e need to empower and stand by each other and have each other's backs. We're strong women that we provide a lot to the community. And, what else can we do, by supporting our community by showing up." Councilwoman Blanche Barajas said.

    The two women awarded this year were Lisa Bugas, the Community Engagement and Philanthropy Relationship Manager with Numerica Credit Union and Amanda Lorraine, the CEO and Co-Founder of Grace Kitchen.
