    Blowing Dust Advisory

NWS Spokane has issued a Blowing Dust Advisory for portions of Grant and Adams County. This runs from today 2 PM - 7 PM.

Today: Showers should arrive to the Kittitas and Yakima valleys by the late morning, while holding off for the Lower Columbia basin and Blue Foothills until right around lunchtime. The Yakima Valley should turn dry by the early afternoon, but the rest of the area will likely dry out by the late afternoon to early evening. The Cascades could squeeze 0.50 - 0.75” of rainfall out of this system, but areas to the east of the Cascades will likely receive < 0.10”Highs will be about 5-10 degrees below average for early October. It’ll be in the mid-40s in the Cascades, low-60s in the Kittitas and Yakima valleys, and mid to upper-60s in the Lower Columbia Basin, Blue Foothills, and Blue Mountains. It’ll feel even cooler out there due to the winds. Winds will gust between 20-35 MPH across the map. If you’re traveling to Spokane this afternoon and evening, be wary of blowing dust due to strong winds and loose topsoil.

Tonight: By the mid evening to overnight hours,, we should dry out and clear out. Overnight lows will drop down into the low-30s in the Blue Mountains, with mid to upper-30s in the Cascades, Kittitas and Yakima valleys, and Lower Columbia Basin. Expect mid-40s for portions of the Blue Foothills. Winds will calm down for most spots, although they could still gust up to 20 MPH in the Cascades.

Extended: We’ll keep it dry and mostly sunny Saturday through Monday. We’re tracking some small shower chances coming back into the picture for Tuesday through Thursday of next week, but for now it looks like it’ll mostly be an ordeal in the Cascades. Highs will still be below average through Sunday, but we’ll trend more seasonal and slightly warmer for Monday and beyond.
