Warmer for Tuesday, much cooler weather expected by Thursday and Friday

Today: Tuesday will feature roughly 50% chances of showers in the Cascades from the late morning until the late afternoon. The rest of us should stay dry with sunny to mostly sunny skies. There could be some light haze in the Blue Foothills and Blue Mountains due to adjacent fires, but significant reductions in air quality aren’t expected. Highs today will be about 5-10 degrees above average for early October. It’ll be in the mid-50s in the cascades, with mid to upper-70s for the Kittitas Valley, Yakima Valley, Lower Columbia Basin, Blue Foothills, and Blue Mountains. Winds will be light for most spots, although they could gust up to 20 MPH in the Kittitas Valley.

Tonight: Even the Cascades should be dry by this evening. However, there could be some residual cloud cover slipping down into the Kittitas and Yakima valleys. This could make for partly to mostly cloudy skies, but it’ll stay mostly clear to the east of there. Some light haze could also continue to impact the Blue Foothills and Blue Mountains, although we’re still not expecting significant air quality reductions. Overnight lows will drop down into the upper-30s in the Blue Mountains, with mid to upper-40s for the Cascades, Kittitas Valley, Yakima Valley, and Lower Columbia Basin. Expect mid-50s for portions of the Blue Foothills.

Extended: There’s about a 30% chance for another round of showers in the Cascades on Wednesday. The best timeframe would be the late afternoon into the early evening. Even though we’ll be dry to the east of there, clouds will be more prevalent compared to Tuesday. There are additional shower chances on Friday and next Monday, but those will mostly be reserved for the Cascades as well. Overall, it’ll be a mostly dry forecast over the next 7-days. It’ll also be an up and down forecast in terms of our high temperatures. We’ll drop down to highs about 5 degrees above average for Wednesday, then we’ll cool way down and turn a few degrees below average for Thursday and Friday. However, expect warmer and slightly more seasonal temperatures from Saturday through Monday.
